The weekend is just round the corner, so let's have a little warm up!
Wine festivals belong among very popular annual events in Slovakia. We call them "vinobranie" which literally translates as "wine grabbing".
Vinobranie in Pezinok dates back to the 13th century. It takes place right on the streets of this lovely wine town. This particular vinobranie is one of the most famous and popular ones in our tiny little country.
But don't be fooled: vinobranie isn't just wine! It's food, music, dancing and even grape pressing! You will find many other drinks made from this tasty fruit as well: I'm talking about the legendary burčiak, which comes from sweet mušt but gets a little bit more alcoholic in the process.
Oh and the food... "lokše", "pagáče", baked goose, goulash and so on and so on... Basically heaven.
So as you can see, vinobranie is many things, but most of all it's FUN!
